Emily D. Warnes,
Board Certified Clinical Child
and Adolescent Psychologist
Dr. Warnes is a licensed psychologist specializing in children and adolescents. She is Board Certified in Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and is a member of the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology. Dr. Warnes completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas, majoring in psychology. She received her doctorate in School Psychology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her doctoral training and research emphasized establishing strong, healthy connections between family, school, and medical systems for children and adolescents. Dr. Warnes completed her clinical externship and doctoral internship in pediatric psychology at the Munroe Meyer Institute (University of Nebraska Medical Center). She completed an additional post-doctoral fellowship in clinical pediatric psychology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, whereby she helped establish outpatient behavioral health clinics in the context of primary care medical practices in Nebraska. Dr. Warnes has worked since 2005 as a licensed psychologist providing services in the context of primary care (both family practice and pediatric clinics). Prior to moving back to her home state of Kansas in 2011, Dr. Warnes worked with a large pediatric practice in Iowa City, IA for several years.
Dr. Warnes has extensive experience consulting with school and medical systems, and has provided numerous workshops to parent, school, and physician groups. She has authored and co-authored numerous articles and book chapters. She is a member of several professional organizations including: American Psychological Association, APA Division of Clinical and Adolescent Child Psychology, APA Division of School Psychology, American Board of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, and National Register of Health Service Providers.
Dr. Warnes has expertise in providing evidence-based psychological assessment and therapy services to children and adolescents. Her primary approach to treatment is Cognitive-Behavioral, meaning there is a strong emphasis on understanding the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behavior, as well as developing specific coping tools for managing distressing symptoms. Dr. Warnes regularly utilizes behavioral parent-training/coaching techniques, interpersonal therapy, as well as family and school consultation practices.
On a personal note, Dr. Warnes was born and raised in Kansas. She is married and has four children. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, listening to music, and cheering for KU Basketball.
Dr. Lindsey Colburn-Malousek is a licensed psychologist specializing in the treatment of children and adolescents. Dr. Colburn-Malousek is also a licensed addiction counselor. Dr. Colburn-Malousek completed her undergraduate education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, majoring in psychology. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in Springfield, Missouri. Her doctoral training focused on child and adolescent treatment as well as strengthening family systems. Her internship and post-doctoral experience provided a generalist training with a specialty in family care. Dr. Colburn-Malousek has worked over a decade with children and families in a variety of settings that includes day treatment, in-home therapy, and outpatient community mental health. Additionally she has experience in providing psychological evaluations to help answer specific diagnostic questions and identify necessary treatment components.
Dr. Colburn-Malousek utilizes a cognitive behavioral approach integrated with a system’s viewpoint. She believes it is important to understand the entire ecological system of a patient and their family in order to provide effective treatment. Dr. Colburn-Malousek therefore often utilizes individual and family sessions to assist patients in learning and implementing skills to better manage distressing symptoms, while also helping families develop at-home parent management strategies to support their child’s overall health and functioning. Dr. Colburn-Malousek has experience working with an array of populations including LGBTQ youth.
On a personal note, Dr. Colburn-Malousek was born and raised in Nebraska. She is married and raising two children and two dogs. She enjoys reading, traveling, being outdoors, and cheering on the Huskers.
Board Certified Behavior Analyst
Dr. Ostmeyer is a licensed psychologist, licensed behavior analyst, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) specializing in the treatment of children and adolescents. Dr. Ostmeyer earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas, majoring in psychology and applied behavioral science. She completed her masters degree in psychology at Washburn University and completed a 2-year assistantship/internship at the Kansas City Center for Anxiety Treatment. She received her doctorate in psychology at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University after completing a pre-doctoral internship at Integrated Behavioral Technologies and the University of Kansas Medical Center including a Leadership in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) fellowship. Upon graduation in 2014, Dr. Ostmeyer accepted a position as the Director of Community Research and Clinical Services, and later Associate Executive Director, at Integrated Behavioral Technologies, a small not-for-profit aimed at increasing access to evidence-based behavioral intervention for youth in rural and low-income settings. In 2018, Dr. Ostmeyer realized that her administrative position pulled her away from the direct service work of helping children and families that she loved, so she shifted her focus to full time clinical practice.
Dr. Ostmeyer utilizes a primarily cognitive-behavioral and behavioral framework for helping children and families. She understands that treatment should be tailored to each individual taking into account their personal strengths and the systems and environments in which they live. Her experience as a consultant, clinician, researcher, and instructor across home, school, and community settings helps her understand the different systems and environments in which each family and child exists.
On a personal note, Dr. Ostmeyer spent most of her childhood growing up in rural Western Kansas. She enjoys spending time with her husband, two kids, and their family dog. In her free time, she spends her time baking, enjoying the outdoors, and working on technology/curriculum development for helping children and families.

Board Certified Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Alyson Weiser is a board certified Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in the treatment of children and adolescents. Alyson completed her undergraduate education at Emporia State University, earning bachelor's degrees in both psychology and nursing. She received her Master's of Science in Nursing from the University of Kansas. Alyson has worked with children in residential treatment facilities as well as outpatient clinics. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, the Kansas Psychiatric Nurses Association, and the American Nurses Association.
Under protocol with her collaborating physician, Alyson is able to perform psychiatric evaluations and prescribe psychotropic medications. She practices evidence-based prescribing blended with clinical experience and an appreciation for the uniqueness of each client. Alyson's approach to psychiatric care can best be described as caring and collaborative.
On a personal note, Alyson is married and has two sons. She is a native Kansan. She enjoys reading, learning about other cultures, and spending time with her family.
Amanda is our office manager at SPBH and has worked with us since August 2018. She was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. She has worked in the medical field for 13 years, and it has become one of her biggest passions in life to be able to help others and play a role in their care. As office manager, Amanda ensures the smooth operation of the practice and skillfully manages administrative duties, as well as client relations.
